It is so important that babies and parents get the sleep they need to thrive. Understanding newborn sleep and how a baby’s sleep develops is key to starting a responsive, healthy and happy sleep journey for the whole family.

As a Midwife and a Sleep Consultant, I am uniquely qualified to educate you on all you need to know about newborn sleep so you feel more confident in making the right decisions for you and your baby.

During a home visit, ideally in your pregnancy, but can take place once your baby is born, we explore:

  • Safe sleep principles, including assessing your baby’s sleep environment 

  • Newborn sleep patterns

  • Newborn sleep behaviours so you don’t over respond and interrupt sleep

  • Key strategies to implement gentle day and night routines to support your baby’s

    circadian rhythm development (the 24 hour internal body clock)

  • Sleep cues to support independent sleep and avoid sleep associations such as

    feeding or rocking

I am then available when needed to continue to support you and your baby on your sleep

journey. This may be during the 6 week growth spurt, 4 month sleep regression or around 6 months when transitioning your baby into his/her nursery.
